Table 138 - be very afraid!
I just spent all evening in the exciting company of Annie Duke - the most prominent of my opponents at table 138 tomorrow.
She spared me no detail on her childhood, her early years as a student and graduate, her private life, the ups and downs of making the choices and commitments she made. It was a thrill and genuinely interesting, I really recommend her book "How I raised....(very long title)" to anyone with an interest in not only poker but good autobiographies.
Tried to fix my neck with a massage but as I had feared I really need a chiropractor if it does not correct itself. Tomorrow I will bring an extra cushion for my seat (horrible chairs) and I will be more aware of stretching and exercise in breaks and between hands. Hopefully I am in for a long session tomorrow, and the most crucial hours are the late ones.
I think I should also be in for a bit of luck now. I know cards don“t have memories - my own teaching, based on my many agonizing years in backgammon where the dice play the same element of luck, BUT: I had aces just once - ONCE! - in day 1, and everybody folded to me in the big blind. I had not even glanced at the cards before I flipped them over to show my hand before scooping in the small blind with my greedy finger (singular form intentional).
No more Mr. Nice Guy - wish me luck
