well, humhum - surprise surprise!

I am out of the WSOP 2006. Too bad. Shit happens. Gotta be lucky. Gotta play well, too.

My table was not the most frightening, despite the presence of Mrs. Duke and one of the biggest stacks in the tourney, Cory Butler with more than $90,000.

I started out as I had finished day 1 - NO cards! After 2 rounds of blinds and antes my stack had gone down to $12,000 (blinds 250/500 with $50 ante). Well into the second hour I position raised a couple of times and managed to keep the blinds at bay. In one hand in the BB I decided to call a raise from a player who seemed pretty weak to me. I was holding 74s, normally not a hand I would play. I got away with check-raising him on the flop and sccoped myself up to almost $18,000, then I went back down to 14,000, then we went on the frist break.

The first couple of hands after the break I was dealt KK and in another one 66, both were raised and folded to, so I crawled back up to 18,000.

My last hand was JJ. I raised to 2,000 in 3rd position, and got called by the button, who accidentally was also the big stack. Flop came Q75. I decide to bet $3,500, after a while he calls. Another 7 comes on the turn. I am putting him on most anthing here, with his positional advantage. I do think he does not have AA, KK or QQ, maybe AQ but it could be pretty dangerous for him to let me draw another card. I am thinking he probably has a pair of 8, 9 or 10s. Since there is already more than $12,500 I gamble, hoping he can lay down the second best hand and I move all-in. Again he thinks for a while before he decides to call - with the cowboys! No jack on the river for me. The bastard had smoothcalled and slowplayed the hand all the way, brilliantly played if it weren´t for the fact that I am convinced he was sincerely contemplating laying down the hand. Of course now I think I should have checked the hand down on the turn and the river and folded if he had bet, but that is hindsight 22.

Last I heard leaving the table was Annie saying "nice playing with you!" Yeah, I bet......

    Henrik,
Sorry to hear your run has ended. We were all pulling for you here in Surfside. Once again it proves along with poker skills you need alittle bit of Lady Luck. Try to enjoy the rest of your time in Vegas.
