the big mix

As the previous years, the WSOP is a big melting pot of cheap crap, white trash, poor on-line qualifiers sucking everything in their first time in Vegas, big shots and celebrities. Today was even more concentrated when the "Ante up for Africa" charity poker tournament took place at the same time as the super satellites filled up the room. Ben Affleck and Charles Barkley were among the celebs playing a superfast structured tournament.

Meanwhile the final table of the 2-7 triple draw was going on almost unnoticed in the far corner of the enormous poker room, with the grand old man Doyle watching while his son Todd busted in 7th place. Chad brown, Freddy Deeb (who just won the "real" world championship H.O.R.S.E. event), Eric Seidel and Andy Black were among the remaining players.

Tom Fitzpatrick says hi to everybody in Costa Rica, he was SO CLOSE to qualifying to the Main Event when he busted in 70th place - there were 53 seats available. In his last hand he had the opponent dominated with AK vs. AJ, but one of the three outs hit on the river. Tom felt good though, and he might just sign up anyway, I will keep you posted on that.
